By Marissa Meyer
Overview: Another great series from Marissa Meyer! The premise is super interesting and very thought provoking, fans of the Scythe series will definitely love this. It does a lot of questioning what’s right and what’s wrong, just like Scythe. Young people grades seven and up would enjoy reading this. It has an easy to read yet in depth writing style, but there is a lot of violence and a little bit of romance.
What’s it about? Nova Artino has hated the Renegades, a group of superheroes that is the governing power in her world, ever since they didn’t show up to save her family many years ago. Now she is bent on revenge as she infiltrates the Renegades in order to bring them down from the inside. Once initiated, she finds herself making friends and more and wonders which group is right or wrong.
My thoughts: This series was super fun to read! I really enjoyed the different ways superheroes and their powers, and the idea of the super hero organization running the world was very interesting. It’s super creative! I really sympathized with Nova and the other villains even though they were, you know, villains. That’s definitely a mark of great character building! I couldn’t decide whether to cheer on the heroes or the villains!
